What’s New in v10
Import Figma Designs Into Volt Iris
Volt Iris now allows you to import Figma designs directly as Iris forms using GenAI within the HCL Volt MX platform. This significantly reduces UI design effort and cuts down development effort by half or more compared to manual recreation, helping teams progress faster from concept to implementation.
Using the Figma plugin available in My HCLSoftware (MHS) as a new utility, you can easily export Figma designs in a format that can be consumed by an AI model, which in turn is converted into a Volt Iris-compatible form, including all embedded assets.
This AI-powered conversion bridges the gap between design and development. While results may vary depending on the complexity of design and adherence to best practices by the designer, any Figma library or template can be used in the original design without limitation, making this tool as flexible as it is powerful.

Volt IQ: AI Assisted Dev — Enhanced With RAG For Contextual Knowledge Retrieval and Code Generation
With this release, we’ve integrated Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) in Volt IQ to deliver accurate, context-aware responses by referencing official Volt MX documentation and support forums.
With HCL Volt IQ, developers can:
- Get precise, context-aware answers to technical queries
- Explore documentation effortlessly
- Generate Volt MX code with explanations
- Receive links to relevant resources
- Maintain conversation history for retaining context
- Ask about other HCL products like Leap, Volt MX Go, and Domino (based on entitlements)
- Provide feedback on AI responses to improve accuracy over time
Together, these capabilities help reduce development time, lower the learning curve, and empower your teams to build with greater speed and confidence.

Governance in Volt Foundry
Governance keeps your business-critical operations for application runtimes, such as deployments, on a controlled, reviewed path.
HCL Volt Foundry now supports Governance capabilities, allowing designated approvers or administrators to review, assess the impact on runtime, and authorize changes to runtime environments before they go live.
With governance enabled, business-critical operations, such as updating service definitions to or unpublishing from application runtime environments, are subject to a manual review process.
These controls ensure that all modifications to your application runtimes are secure, traceable, and auditable, providing peace of mind for your deployment teams.

Apps For Cars
Developers can now build car apps that integrate seamlessly with Apple CarPlay and Google’s Android Auto, allowing users to interact with apps directly from their vehicle’s infotainment system.
Developing distinct applications for both car channels can be challenging due to their individual ecosystems, design guidelines, and technical requirements. HCL Volt MX’s cross-platform development capabilities allow your developers to build apps for CarPlay and Android Auto from a common codebase, reducing development time and effort. HCL Volt MX abstracts underlying frameworks, enabling developers to write platform-agnostic code and focus on delivering a consistent and engaging user experience across both channels.
Volt MX delivers location-aware, real-time functionality to the car dashboard, allowing users to safely access information and take on-the-go actions without unlocking their phone. Whether discovering nearby services, browsing menus, booking appointments, or navigating to points of interest, the in-car experience remains seamless.

Redesigned Volt Iris Interface
HCL Volt Iris visuals have been redesigned to offer a more intuitive, accessible, and modern development experience without altering core functionality. This update improves feature discoverability, visual consistency, and ease of use across the IDE.
Key enhancements include better grouping, segmentation, and layout structure to streamline usage. Special attention has been given to color selections, contrasts, spacing, icons, font sizing, and several other visual parameters to ensure the interface is visually appealing and inclusive of diverse accessibility needs.
Highlights of the IDE redesign:
- Improved readability and layout density for optimal visual real-estate utilisation
- Updated icons, font sizes, and spacing for a cleaner, more accessible UI
- Modernized widget palette and out-of-the-box templates
- Responsive, streamlined view-control options within the App Canvas
- Cleaner, reorganized Project Explorer for easier navigation
- Revamped light and dark themes with improved contrast and coverage
These changes make HCL Volt Iris more accessible, structured, and easy to use. They help developers stay focused, organized, and productive while delivering a more seamless user experience.

Real-time Engagement Through iOS ‘Live Activities’
Live Activities, a powerful iOS feature that presents dynamic, real-time updates on the Lock Screen, is now supported. Introduced in iOS 16, this feature enables apps to present live information in the Dynamic Island (iPhone 14 Pro+) and in the Smart Stack, starting with iOS 18 and watchOS 11.
Live Activities allow users to track ongoing tasks, activities or events at a glance without launching the app. Unlike push notifications, Live Activities are continually updated and contextually visible across Apple devices.
Integrating Live Activities into HCL Volt MX apps is easy because of:
- No code changes required
- UI configuration support with IntelliSense
- Volt MX APIs with user attributes
- Automatic Widget Extension configuration
- Automatic Widget bundle generation
- Built-in User data protection
This makes it faster for developers to deliver real-time, personalized updates while creating more engaging, glanceable experiences for end users.

Simple Yet Secure Login with ‘Passkeys’
HCL Volt MX now supports Passkeys, a modern, password-less login method built on the WebAuthn standard and powered by public-key cryptography. Passkeys replace traditional passwords with secure, device-bound credentials managed by your operating system’s credential manager.
Initially conceived by the FIDO Alliance, Passkeys eliminate common password issues such as phishing, reuse, and weak credentials. Users can sign in with a single tap using biometrics or a device PIN, eliminating the need to remember or reset passwords.
Passkeys are supported on iOS, Android, and web. They also offer cross-device compatibility; just scan a QR code to sign in on another device, and no password is needed.
Passkeys mark a significant step in simplifying secure access, making login faster, safer, and future-ready.
