The Challenge
Before upgrading to HCL Domino v14, STRABAG’s environment included multiple older Domino versions that lacked current features, security updates, and optimizations needed for a hybrid IT landscape. Integration gaps with platforms such as Microsoft 365 and Active Directory affected performance, compliance, and operational efficiency.
In those legacy versions, maintaining the environment required substantial effort, including testing, troubleshooting, and validation across several platforms.
With the end of support for legacy versions approaching and regulatory expectations increasing, STRABAG’s IT leadership prioritized the move to a modern, fully supported release.

The Solution
STRABAG chose a clean restart and upgrade to HCL Domino v14 to achieve long-term platform stability, maintain manufacturer support, and meet compliance requirements. HCL Domino v14 introduced key capabilities essential for STRABAG’s IT strategy, including:
- Modern security features, including Passkey Authentication
- Improved integration via Active Directory, SSO, and current Domino REST APIs
With dedicated support from the HCL Domino team across planning, testing, and rollout phases, the upgrade was delivered without the need for any additional implementation partner. The upgrade re-established alignment across the platform and enabled STRABAG to benefit from the full HCL Domino v14 feature set and support lifecycle.
