We are pleased to share some important changes regarding HCL AppScan licensing in version 10.7.0 releasing in October 2024. These changes are intended to streamline access to licenses, improve the customer experience, and assist customers in ensuring compliance in use of HCL AppScan as we evolve.

Below are the key updates you need to know about and a walkthrough of all the changes, including the launch of the My HCLSoftware (MHS) portal.

Introducing My HCLSoftware (MHS)

My HCLSoftware (MHS) is the brand new, one-stop, central portal that supports the post-purchase customer lifecycle and is the new hub for managing all licensing needs for HCL AppScan products.

Going forward, MHS will be the central platform for downloading and managing licenses across all supported versions of HCL AppScan. This portal is designed to improve transparency in managing licenses and give customers a seamless self-service experience.

Changes Begin with HCL AppScan Version 10.7.0

Customers can now download licenses from MHS beginning with Version 10.7.0. The existing licensing distribution platform will continue to be operational for a short period of time, but customers are encouraged to use the MHS platform at their earliest convenience.

Intermediate Phase: Version 10.7.0 releases with fixed license validity

Versions 10.7.0 of HCL AppScan will be an interim release intended to facilitate a seamless transition from HCLSoftware’s existing delivery platform to MHS. HCL AppScan Version 10.7.0 is available to download in both the existing platform and the new MHS.

To ensure customers transition to the full licensing capabilities through MHS, 10.7.0 will have a fixed validity date, and this version will cease to work after the date. This will be applicable for HCL AppScan Standard, HCL AppScan Enterprise, and HCL AppScan Source

The HCL AppScan 10.7.0 releases, available in October 2024, will incorporate a validity period of 14 months for HCL AppScan Standard, and 36 months for both HCL AppScan Source and HCL AppScan Enterprise.

Fixed validity dates

  • HCL AppScan Standard -  31 December, 2025
  • HCL AppScan Enterprise & HCL AppScan Source - 31 October, 2027

Version 10.7.0 and future releases of those programs will be available from MHS, and full AppScan licensing capability through MHS will be delivered in future releases.

Actions Required

As it is a transitory release, Version 10.7.0 will not have a Local Licensing Server (LLS). Check Product documents for more details.

Customers who choose to migrate to Version 10.7.0 of the above programs, will need to upgrade to a later version which shall incorporate complete MHS licensing capability, prior to this version’s fixed validity date.

Due to the transition from the existing licensing platform to MHS, the existing Local or Cloud Licensing Server will cease to work after June 30, 2025. Customers, who have valid entitlements beyond this date, will need to move to Version 10.7.0 (or later as available) by June 30, 2025, after which the LLS/CLS will cease to exist.

To ensure a smooth transition and to provide ample time to prevent any potential disruptions caused by the fixed validity in Version 10.7.0, we recommend customers upgrade to version 10.8.0 or higher by June 30, 2025.

Accessing MHS

Current HCL AppScan customers, who have previously downloaded software via the existing licensing platform, will be onboarded automatically to MHS for all license downloads and management going forward. New customers will be onboarded directly to MHS at the time of purchase.

Once customers have received their credentials, they can navigate to the My HCLSoftware (MHS) portal, sign in and download the required HCL AppScan version.

Future Releases

HCLSoftware will roll out MHS in phases over the forthcoming releases of HCL AppScan.

In future releases, HCL AppScan Standard, HCL AppScan Enterprise, HCL AppScan Source, AppScan 360 and AppScan on Cloud will incorporate MHS for licensing management.

While MHS is being introduced in Version 10.7.0 for software distribution, complete license capability will be reintroduced in future releases enabled through the MHS platform; the first of which will be available on or before June 30, 2025.

HCLSoftware will provide additional information and instructions as needed throughout this migration period.

In Summary

With the introduction of MHS and the reintroduction of complete license capability in future releases, HCLSoftware is committed to ensuring that our licensing processes remain transparent, are more streamlined and increasingly efficient. While Version 10.7.0 provides a temporary period with fixed validity, it’s essential to plan ahead and transition to the next version before the validity expires.

Thank you for your continued trust in HCL AppScan. We look forward to helping you navigate these changes. If you have any queries, please reach out to Support.
