Innovation never stops with HCL Leap and HCL Domino Leap, and we’re excited to share some of the latest enhancements that make it even easier to build dynamic, intelligent applications. We’ve launched Leap version 9.3.8 and Domino Leap version 1.1.6. Now, we’re gearing up for another major update with Leap version 9.3.9 and Domino Leap version 1.1.7, scheduled for March. These updates introduce smarter logic-building, improved embedding, better analytics, and a refreshed user experience.
Here’s what’s new and how these features solve real-world challenges.
More Powerful and Flexible Rules
Application logic just got more powerful with an upgraded rules editor that supports combined "AND" and "OR" conditions.
For example, a loan application form might require an applicant to be employed AND have a credit score of at least 700 OR an income of $5,000 per month. With the improved rule setup, this logic is now easier to configure, reducing errors and improving application processing.
Seamless Data Updates with the Enhanced Embedding API
The latest update to the Leap embedding API makes it easier than ever to embed forms that display existing records. This is especially valuable for businesses that need to provide a seamless self-service experience.
For example, a customer service portal can now display a user’s account details in an embedded Leap form, allowing them to update their contact information without navigating away from the site. By pulling up the specific record via ID, organizations can provide a smoother, more user-friendly way to manage customer data.
Track Leap App Usage in Foundry
Visibility into app usage is crucial for optimization and compliance. Volt MX Foundry now provides insights into the number of users accessing a Leap app and session counts.
A government agency using Leap for permit applications, for instance, can now track app engagement and ensure proper licensing, helping teams make informed decisions about future improvements.
A Fresh New Look with the Updated Default Theme
We’ve introduced a modernized default theme to enhance usability while keeping existing app designs intact. This update refines UI elements, enhancing data tables, dialogs, and the view data page for a more polished, professional appearance across applications.
Leap Support for Azure Active Directory
Leap now supports Azure Active Directory for streamlined directory lookups, enhancing workflow configuration and access permissions. This integration enables users to efficiently search and select users and groups within Leap, eliminating guesswork and improving the overall user experience.
While Leap can function without directory integration, connecting to your directory service is highly recommended. Previously, LDAP was the only option for directory integration in Leap, and it remains supported. However, for organizations utilizing Azure Active Directory, Leap now offers configuration via the Microsoft Graph API.
What’s Next?
These updates make Leap more powerful, efficient, and user-friendly. Whether you’re refining logic, embedding forms with existing data, tracking app usage, adopting the new theme, or streamlining access with Azure Active Directory integration, these features are designed to meet evolving business needs.
